Over-rev reports: only for stick-shift cars
What is an over-rev report?
Every Porsche has a computer that watches the engine. If the engine ever spins too fast, the computer writes it down. That list is called an over-rev report. It matters most on stick-shift cars. If a driver picks the wrong gear, the engine can spin too fast and get hurt. The report shows if that ever happened.
Why don’t we give one on PDK or Tiptronic cars?
PDK and Tiptronic cars shift gears for you. The car’s computer picks the gear. It will not pick a gear that makes the engine spin too fast, even if you pull the paddle. So the big mistake the report looks for does not happen the same way. These cars mostly log the engine hitting its top limit when you press the gas all the way down. The car is built to do that. Those numbers do not tell you if the car was treated badly, and they are easy to read wrong. So we do not give this report on PDK or Tiptronic cars.
What do you get instead?
On every Porsche, we check the whole car with Porsche’s own computer. You get the service records we have. You get our inspection report on the car’s page. You get a live video tour of the car before you pay. And every HBi retail car comes with 3 months of coverage and a $0 deductible.
